ABOUT ME

Scott Lygate BMus MA ARAM is an award winning composer/performer from Ayrshire, Scotland. He has more than 15 years experience and success performing as a clarinettist with a specialism on contrabass clarinet and composing with industry leading organisations and has worked extensively at the top recording studios in the UK such as Air, Abbey Road, British Grove, Angel and Clockwork Studios for music contractors such as Isobel Griffiths Ltd and Hilary Skewes Ltd. Scott was made an Associate (ARAM) of the Royal Academy of Music, London for significant services to music. He was educated at the Junior department of the RSAMD in Glasgow, followed by studying at the Royal Academy in London, and undertook Master studies in Austria at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna and Graz. He has undertaken further specialist composition and performance masterclasses throughout the world including at  the Juilliard School in New York, USA and at the Chigiana Accademia in Siena, Italy. His professional experience includes recording film music for Mary Magdalene with composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, and has worked on several other award- winning films such as Alien: Covenant and Adrift. Scott is featured playing the contrabass clarinet on several leading sample libraries such as Spitfire.

Scott has also performed alongside Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, Donovan Leitch and Belle and Sebastian, as well as performing regularly with all the major British Symphony Orchestras and Opera Companies such as at the Royal Opera and with the London Symphony Orchestra.
